This is the kind of image set out i want for my piece I'm going to film my bro djing. I'm going to run the clip into Flash, and add another layer and slowly edit over every frame then after Ive done enough frames, delete the movie layer and play the edited layer. I'm thinking of having a go with this clip well part of it just to see if the idea will work before i spend to much time on it. I'm going to find some more information on this animation process.

This is another Rotoscoping video i found. i like the drawn pencil effect achieve, i want to use colour in mine but i want a really ruff feel to it showing a lot of movement. below if some information i found ion this animtion stlye.
*The technique was invented by Max Fleischer, who used it in his series Out of the Inkwell starting around 1915.
*Walt Disney and his animators employed it carefully and very effectively in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937. was also used in many of Disney's subsequent animated feature films with human characters, such as Cinderella in 1950.
*The term "rotoscoping" (typically abbreviated as "roto") is now generally used for the corresponding all-digital process of tracing outlines over digital film images to produce digital mattes.
This is a film i bought ages back, i got it cos it was based on Philip K Dick's book, and it was one of his books that blade runner was based on. I found out the effect is achieve by rotoscoping. You take each frame of the live action film and trace over it, and merge similar colors in the real film into bigger pools of color. I'm going to have a look at this technique

These are a few pictures of my bro djing, im going to do some drawings from these pictures, im not sure weither i want to use a photorealistic picture or make it inot an animation. if where using flash, ive seen a few people draw over frames and make them animated, i like the look of this, i will add some of the images on the blg now to show the effect.

For my interactive box, i wanted to add a few elements together, i one of my ideas was to use my bro as a character to play the music, say behind some decks and each deck goes to a different page when its put down. music can be played thought the piece. Another idea was to use my self in the gym as i train a few days a week.
The Interactive Box
How am i going to use interactive design to reflect myself and professional identity in an on line bow/showcase that contains five interactive objects that tell a story about who i am?
Well, since one of the objects is my avatar i need to think of four things that say who i am. I think my art work and freelance work should go in as it shows my creative side, and also having an interactive object of me at the gym since i train nearly 5 days a week. I want to add music to this piece aswell, i want to show my love for rock and hardhouse music somehow, maybe one of my interacitve objects can play music as the viwer looks round my box.

After numerous problems i finally got to render today. i had to take the ray trace off all the Windows as this was making a render time of 1.30 per file, it now runs at 8 seconds a file. juts got to put it into premier and hopefully i will be finished on time. I've enjoyed this project, but think i spent to much time in development. more still renders to be added. I'm going to upload my ideas for the interactive box design on the blog now.

This is a rendered image of the left hand side of my street showing the art shop, o2 gym and part of asda. I added a larger grass area near the art shop and a little wood land area. i thought this would help make my environment look bigger but not take me to long to achieve.I need to make the tress bigger tho. i also added some lamp posts into my design. i might light these but, i wanted my town to be light in the day time, so I'm not sure what to do yet.

This is a render image to see what i needed behind the asda building to give more dept to my environment. i did want to build a little town environment, but i found this would take way to long with how much i knew of 3dmax at the time. sop i used flat images behind the asda building.I need to add a sky for my camera shots.

I decided i wanted to add anohter part to the clothes shop, and put in my own top designs. i found it hard to make a maniquine to put the tops on so after a few atmepst i ended up just making them rectangle. Im happy i got my top designs up in the shop tho. If i could design the shop again and new more about 3d max i would make it more open plan with lots of glass. just needs the roof and the window on the side

I decided i wanted a chill out area outside the gym. when I'm at the gym its a social interaction as well was working out. so i felt a chill out area was needed. i gave it a natural feel, as its a more healthy atmosphere. i need to add a table and grass area to the chill out area, and also some paving near the door.
This it the start up page for Apple site. This site had a similar design elements to the Sony site. Has a tap bar running across the top with all the different sections easily assessable. the page it very clean cut and stylish much like the apple products. Apple know how to design, i own one of the desk tops mac and is very stylishly designed, even the keyboard and mouse ain't left out.
This is the sony site. As you would expect from sony this site layout is modern and stylish. The range of products is layout out orderly on the left, all the information on the products is layout out near the image. This site reflects the philosophy of the company’s brand in the same way as there products, sleek stylish and modern. i found the interaction design elements very easy to use the site all fitted togehter nicely.

IDEO identity cards
This is a web site showing conceptual business card ideas. i found this site very user friendly and the layout had been well thought through and was well organised using a an image bar across the top where the user can click and see an enlarged image and information about the concept project. the site reflect the philosophy of the company’s brand as a modern forward thinking company applying old and new technoloys in a innotive approach.

"Here", I said to Newsnight's real life editor Peter Barron, "why don't we broadcast Newsnight from inside a computer game."
Because the virtual money inside Second Life is convertible to US dollars, and people who make things can keep the intellectual property, it is possible to run a real life business inside the game.
I got in touch with Cory Edo - real name Sara Van Gorden - who runs a business in Second Life designing avatars - the idealised 3D personas that people use as their online identities.
Cory recreated the Newsnight set, Jeremy Paxman and myself - the latter with wrinkles and stubble rendered in full 3D realism, sadly - so we could record the historic "two-way" that will go out before my piece on online games.
A side of Jeremy Paxman the viewers just don't get to see
"For the creation of photorealistic skins such as the ones that were used on the Newsnight project," says Cory, "I took the face shot that was sent to us and split it in half, pasted this into the skin grid file, and duplicated it on the other side.
"After that, it was mostly adjusting things like the nose shading and the eye placement to fit the grid, and adding additional shading around the sides."
Second Life plugs into broadband TV
Channel 4 and the Sci-Fi channel are among the companies contributing content to Second Life's first broadband TV network, due to launch in the virtual world at the end of this month.
The pilot project is being put together by creative agency Rivers Run Red, a specialist in creating new projects for the Second Life virtual world or "metaverse".
Rivers Run Red is partnering with 10 big content companies to provide material for TV channels on virtuallife.tv.
By the end of 2007, the company aims to have more than 100 specialist channels streaming a mix of branded content and original programming 24 hours a day.
User content will also be featured, picking up on the trend of "machinima", or virtual world film, as well as distributing music and video.
The channel will help users with the financial costs of hosting video, particularly as video blogging becomes more popular. Distribution will initially be capped at 400,000 units due to bandwidth costs.
At launch, the Second Life broadband TV service will be free, but pay-per-view channels may be introduced later, and advertising will not be based on traditional broadcast models.
"What we're trying to do are much more immersive ads," said the chief executive of Rivers Run Red, Justin Bovington.
"We might have a competition based around a film, for example, but it's about using the content as an enabler to get people involved. I doubt we'll be having the traditional Cilit Bang adverts."
Users can pick up a small, large or supersize virtuallife.tv package from various distribution points in Second Life and install them on their own land or virtual home. TV schedules appear alongside the screen.
Mr Bovington said that TV is a more communal experience in Second Life with groups of people gathering around a TV and discussing the programme. He described the difference between Second Life and the internet as the difference between radio and colour TV.
"Massively multiplayer online role-playing games are a good way of engaging a community," said the brand development manager at the Sci-Fi channel, Ken Jones
Channel 4 Radio is also expanding into Second Life, claiming to be the first radio station to be based in the virtual world. Avatars can access the station through virtuallife.tv or listen through a portable virtual radio, and shows will include a dedicated Second Life community show.

This is the rendered asda supermarket i created. I gave it a clean cut look, used the asda logo and sign off the net. I made a sign post on the front and also a trolley sign. I created the trolleys using tubes, i made one side the grouped it and copied to create the other sides. I wanted to create a car park behind the trolley park and put my favourite cars inside but i don't think i will have to the time got create these.

This is the rendered image of my church for the street scene for my avatar. I added in the blue planes so the rails could be seen, the blue screens won’t be in my final rendered image. The front archway of the church didn’t turn out like I wanted, the mapping wouldn’t render. I ungrouped all the parts but for some reason it didn’t take to it. I’m pleased with the railings; they didn’t take as long as I thought they would. I wanted to add a gate and a door to the church. I’m adding graffiti to the church swell to give it a more run down feel. I’m going to make the railings look rustier and more broken. The windows are smashed in places and I’ve but wooden boarding up on two of the windows, half the roof it missing. I did want to have part of the rook open on the right side n show the beams inside it, but I don’t think I’ve got the time to edit it.

This was the design with the textures added off my clothes. I wore jeans and a green vest top. I also wore my favourite all saints belt as I wear this most days. I added the lions face on the chest of the t-shirt. I felt this was a good place to use it as i’m setting up a fashion label hopefully in the summer doing t-shirt prints. I also made the face darker on the avatar as I felt on the last design u couldn’t see the outlines on the face very clear.

This was the first version of the Photoshop edited design. I added the boots from cloud strife and the arms band, and the shoulder starp. The face is off the face drawing a did a while back, and I made the eyes smaller. I tried doing shading on the character and looking at textures but I couldn’t it hard to do on Photoshop so i’m going to take a photo of me wearing what I want my avatar to wear so I got the textures.

This is the inked over version of the avatar design i’m going to edit and work on in Photoshop. I gave him the shoulder guard instead of the chest one. He still has over sized shoulders. Might make his arms a bit smaller though think they look too big. Next job is to edit the bits in Photoshop I aint happy with and add colour and texture.

I wanted to make the avatars face more like mine, but still keeping it a Manga character. I gave him messed up spiky hair like mine, a cut on the side of his face as I have a small one there from when I fell through two sheets of glass head first, can’t really see it now though it healed up really well. I gave him big eyes think this was due to me watching anime’s I was doing my drawings. I might resize the eyes on Photoshop.

This was a combination of the avatar concepts i’ve done so far. I gave him a sword like cloud strife, not Shaw if I will keep this idea though. I used the star sign idea on his chest plate. I added the chest plate as for my size I can lift a lot of weight on my chest so I put this on my character so he had more strength on his chest.

I decided to add a few more elements to my avatar from my life. I thought about using my star sign as a part of my avatar. I wasn’t really Shaw how to go about this so I decided to try out some drawings and see if these would give me some inspiration. I’m pleased with the outcome of the drawings, the face i've inked over I decided to use on my avatar.

This was my first Avatar concept. I based my design on a few ideas. Firstly from me training around six days a wk when in full fitness I gave my avatar over sized shoulders are mine where until I injured my arm. I decided to put him in a vest top as I wear these to the gym when I train. I also gave him an arm injury where I got mine. I’m also into Manga and draw in quite often so I made him a Manga character. The boots are stylised of Cloud Stifes boots as Final Fansty 7 was my favourite ever computer game. He has a gun similar the blaster Han Solo has in star wars as I love star wars films. The dragon in the back ground it taken from a wall hanging I have up in my room.

This is a link i found on you tube when i was looking for graffiti for my 3d max model. i really like this idea taking graffiti to a virtual world on a pc
Graffiti artist DAIM "sprays" digital graffiti into empty space which is recorded on cameras and ran through a laptop. I like the idea of this as a wiimote is being used to do the graffiti and i Love anything Nintendo
I decided to ask people why they was using second life so I could better understand why people who choose to spend there time in a computer generated environment, for social life and even working with a job.
Damo says:
What made you use second life?
Becky x says:
my mate told me it was funny so I thought id go investigate and c what all the fuss was about...not a lot, I didn’t really no what to do, its a bit complicated for me!! I’m not a great computer fan.
Damo says:
What did u think to the site?
Becky x says:
I didn’t really no what to expect from it to be honest, I think u need to no what to do to have fun if u get what I mean
Damo says:
Did u do the tutiouls n how did u find then?
Becky x says:
no I didn’t find them, I never like to go through instructions they bore me, so I tend to try to work stuff out on my own...sometimes I didn’t get very far!

How did u find the appearance editor?
Becky x says:
Very detailed actually, but I spent so long on that, the time I finished I was a bit bored!
So didn’t really want to go exploring.
